Roanoke Takes Over In Second To Beat Lady Royals

Playing their third game in five days, the Lady Royals wore out in the second half at Roanoke on Saturday.  EMU gave up four second-half goals and lost by a final of 5-1.

The first half was relatively even, with the Maroons taking a 1-0 lead with a goal in the eighth minute.

RC then took over in the second, netting three goals in the span of 3:18 to go ahead 4-0 with 28 minutes to play.  The Maroons added one more in the 81st minute.

Sophomore Kelsey Zook (Broadway, VA/Broadway) scored her first career goal with 7:07 remaining, when she lofted a shot from 40 yards out that sailed over the keeper's head and eliminated the shutout.

The Lady Royals were out-shot 15-1 in the second and 23-3 for the game.  Jenni Beck (Archbold, OH/Archbold) finished with seven saves.

The loss drops Eastern Mennonite to 2-12 overall and 2-5 in the conference.  The women have four important games left as they try to work their way into the eight-team ODAC Tournament.  High-scoring Bridgewater comes to Harrisonburg Wednesday at 7:00pm for the final home game of the year.
