After dropping their conference opener last Saturday at Guilford, the Eastern Mennonite women's soccer team traveled again for their second ODAC match, at Sweet Briar. The Lady Royals dominated play, holding the Vixen without a shot, and got goals in each half en route to a 2-0 win.

EMU took control of play from the opening kick, with Christa Beckler (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) firing two shots in the first minute. Finally at 32:53, freshman Meghan Lutz (Mt. Jackson, Va./Stonewall Jackson) scored her first goal as a Lady Royal with an assist from Jess Myers (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite).

The 1-0 lead continued through the second half, as EMU continued to fire shots at Sweet Briar keeper, Seanne Weeks. At 80:05, defender Valerie Burton (Staunton, Va./Fort Defiance), who had played great defense all game, got into the offense with an unassisted goal, making the lead 2-0.

As time wound down, EMU kept pushing and held the Vixens out of goal, preserving the shutout win. The Lady Royals outshot Sweet Briar 24-0. Abby Diffenbach (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) was the recipient of great team defense and didn't need to make any saves in the victory.

The win ups EMU's record to 3-4, including 1-1 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The Lady Royals next host Randolph-Macon Saturday in Harrisonburg.
