Washington & Lee Nets 70-44 ODAC Win Over EMU
Sophomore center Danielle Scott had a team leading 17 points in a 70-44 loss to Washington & Lee University Tuesday night in Lexington, Va.
Washington & Lee scored the first bucket of the contest and never looked back as the Generals gained a 70-44 Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's basketball victory over Eastern Mennonite University Tuesday night in Lexington, Va.
The win puts the Generals at 13-10 overall and 12-6 in the ODAC. EMU drops to 13-11, 8-11 in the conference.
Washington & Lee was paced by Felice Herman who registered a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Meghan Ingram scored another 15 points in the win.

Melissa Lewis (Stuarts Draft, Va./Stuarts Draft) each scored another eight points for EMU.
The home team opened the contest on a 4-0 run as Herman and Ingram connected before a Wolfe layup got EMU on the board. Washington & Lee responded with a 6-0 swing, putting the score at 10-2 with just under 15 minutes left in the half. Scott dropped the deficit back to six on a layup and helped keep the Lady Royals in the game as Washington & Lee threatened to push their advantage into double figures. Bethany Ridenhour followed the Scott layup with a basket, plus one, to put the Generals up by nine (13-4) with 13:59 on the clock. Sophomore forward
Megan Grove (Greencastle, Pa./Shalom Christian) answered with a layup 51 seconds later but the Generals continued to pour on the offense as the home squad scored eight unanswered points, making the score 21-6 (9:57). The Generals wound up with a 37-16 lead heading into the break as Ingram sank both attempts from the charity stripe before the end of the half.
In the second frame the Lady Royals were at the mercy of a potent Washington & Lee offense as the Generals pushed their lead up to 26 only four minutes into the half. The Generals shot 40 percent (12-of-30) from the floor in the second half with EMU shooting 33 percent (11-of-33). The Lady Royals also struggled from the free throw line (8-of-19, 42 percent) and behind the arc (0-of-12) with Washington & Lee taking advantage of EMU's subpar shooting. W&L kept their double digit lead throughout the second half in route to sweeping the season series.
Lewis had a career-high eight boards, four steals, and three assists.
Ridenhour had nine points and three rebounds. Rebecca Bolton, Kara Nadeau, and Kari Pfannenstein each had six points.
The Generals, ranked fourth in the conference, will finish out their season hosting Bridgewater College on Saturday, February 21.
EMU will wrap-up the 2008-09 regular season at home as they host the Maroons of Roanoke College on Saturday, February 21, at 7 p.m., in Yoder Arena.
