The Lady Royals will remember who Brittany Klippstein is. If it weren't for her hat trick Saturday night, the outcome of the Eastern Mennonite/Lynchburg women's soccer game would have been much more up in the air. Despite being outshot, EMU played with the Hornets, but Klippstein made all the difference in a 3-0 loss.

The two teams played evenly for the first part of the game, before Klippstein scored two goals in the span of less than six minutes to put the home team up. After the streak, it was back to scoreless play into halftime.

After the break, the Lady Royals played more aggressively, as Ally Brown (East Petersburg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) fired a shot just two minutes in. Lynchburg continued to hit shots on goal, but Abby Diffenbach (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) continued to make saves for EMU.

At 64:28, Klippstein nailed a header to get her hat trick and make it 3-0. Brown made a shot on goal just a minute later, but Lynchburg's keeper was there for the save.

As time ticked away, EMU's attacks were held in check as the Lady Royals took the shutout loss.

Diffenbach played a solid game, picking up 13 saves as the women were outshot 33-2.

One bit of good news for the Lady Royals was that junior Jordan Barkus (Millersburg, Pa./Millersburg) returned to action in the game after missing nearing the entire season with an injury.

The loss drops EMU to 6-10 on the year, including 3-7 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. A win at Hollins on Tuesday, Oct. 27, would clinch a conference tournament berth for the Lady Royals.
