Danielle Scott (Summit, NJ/Summit) recorded her third double-double of the season to lead the Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team to a 67-53 conference win over Guilford College Saturday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C.

EMU now stands at 10-2 overall on the season and 5-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Guilford falls to 5-7 on the year, 4-3 in the conference.

"We again just went out and played with intensity and a strong defensive presence," commented head coach Kevin Griffin following the Lady Royals 2-1 road swing. "Our bench, like last night, gave us great minutes and we really executed our plays. Having Brittany Snyder (Raphine, Va./Riverheads) back in the starting line-up is also a big boost to our team."

Snyder led the way with 17 points including a 4-for-10 line from behind the arc. Scott chipped in 14 points while collecting a team high 10 rebounds.

Tracey Croner led all scorers with 19 points and was 7-of-8 from the field for Guilford.

Only two points were scored during the first three minutes of the game and those came off a jumper by Alexandria Mills. Neither team able to put anything else on the board until two free throw shots by Snyder tied it up at two all (16:39). Lauren LeFevers then stroked a three for Guilford as the home team used a 5-0 run to take a 7-2 lead. GC maintained that lead for the next nine minutes of the game as LeFevers had nine points off the bench. Snyder dropped in a long ball with 8:52 left in the first to put the momentum back on the Lady Royals' side. Melissa Lewis (Stuarts Draft, Va./Stuarts Draft) followed with two perfect free throw attempts that gave EMU a one-point edge (17-16, 7:41 remaining).

Miranda Wolfe (Verona, Va./Fort Defiance), Lewis, Marla Young (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial), and Scott each followed with a bucket as an 11-0 run materialized into a 10 point EMU lead (26-16). Guilford knocked down two consecutive three-pointers to close the gap to four (28-24, 1:34 left), but the momentum again swung back to the visiting squad just before the buzzer as a jumper by Brieana Burrs (College Park, Md./Montrose Christian) and a two-point plus one play by Wolfe gave EMU a nine point lead heading into the locker room (33-24).

EMU kept the Quakers at bay throughout the second half as the Lady Royals shot 48 percent from the floor (14-of-29) and did not let the home team get any closer than six points of the lead. A jumper by Snyder at the 2:31 mark gave the visiting team its largest lead of the game at 15 points (64-49). Guilford followed with a modest 4-0 run only to have Ebony Dennis (Baltimore, Md./Western) drop in the seventh three-pointer of the game for EMU to ice the win.

Lewis tallied 10 points and six assists. Young had six points and seven rebounds off the bench while Addie Bashorun (Manassas, Va./Brentsville District) played 19 minutes and had six points, four rebounds, and three steals in the win.

LeFevers finished with 11 points for Guilford.

EMU will return home following their three game road trip for a conference match-up against the Generals of Washington & Lee University on Tuesday, January 13, at 7 p.m.
