Women's Basketball Improves to 15-4 with Win

The Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team improved to 15-4 overall and 11-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with a 85-36 win over Hollins University Tuesday night.
"It was a balanced effort tonight and our bench gave us good minutes and the whole team played hard," commented EMU head coach Kevin Griffin. "They did a good job of finding the open player and sharing the ball and we were much improved from the three-point line."
Senior guard
Tara Jones (Richmond, Va./Meadowbrook) led the team with 15 points while junior
Carolyn Riley (Warrenton, Va./Liberty-Bealeton) and senior center
Jolene Kratz (Telford, Pa./Christopher Dock) also scored in double figures for EMU with Riley scoring 12 and Kratz with 10.
Freshman guard
Addie Bashorun (Manassas, Va./Brentsville District) scored a career high 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc.
EMU had a 39-16 lead heading into the break with Jones leading the squad with 11 points in the half and sophomore guard
Ebony Dennis (Baltimore, Md./Western) adding another six points, four steals, and three assists in the half.
Bashorun came on strong in the second half for the Lady Royals as she scored all 11 points in the 20 minute frame while shooting 4-of-4 from the floor. Freshman
Brittany Snyder (Raphine, Va./Riverheads) had six points, three rebounds, and three steals with EMU shooting 48 percent (18-of-37) in the second half and 47 percent for the game.
The Lady Royals next contest will be on Friday, February 8, at 7 p.m. when they host the Wasps of Emory & Henry College.
