Katie Lamm (Newmanstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon Co.) scored twice as the Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer team defeated Emory & Henry College 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Emory, Va.

EMU improves to 6-3 overall, 4-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

With the win, the Lady Royals are now riding a six-game winning streak that started with a victory over Greensboro College on Saturday, September 6.

"It was an extremely tough, and physical contest," explained head coach Holly Hall. "We had some great scoring opportunities and some one-on-one chances that we were able to capitalize on."

Lamm put the Lady Royals ahead with her team leading seventh goal of the season in the 27th minute with an assist coming from Mattie Horning (Morgantown, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite).

The game remained 1-0 EMU through the remainder of the first period ad into the second frame. The Lady Royals appeared to be headed for a 1-0 win when Emory & Henry attacker Loren Favale scored an unassisted goal in the 83rd minute, tying the contest at one all.

Lamm again came through for EMU as she countered the Favale goal with her second score of the game, and eighth this season, less than three minutes later.

Abi Diffenbach (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) had four saves in the win.

Wasps keeper Hayley Poland recorded 11 saves in goal.

The women's soccer team will stay on the road next week as they travel to Lexington, Va., to take on the Generals of Washington & Lee on Tuesday, October 7, at 4 p.m.
