Mattie Horning (Morgantown, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) scored a pair of goals as the Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer team gained a 4-0 shutout win over Randolph College Wednesday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va.

EMU improves to 8-6 overall and 6-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Randolph falls to 5-13 on the season, 1-8 in the ODAC.

"Our goal today was to take advantage of our opportunities to score, especially off of corner kicks," commented head coach Holly Hall. "Two of our goals were off of corners, so we felt that we accomplished that on top of getting a conference win."

Horning scored the first goal of the game, her fifth of 2008, in the 11th minute to put the Lady Royals up 1-0. The score remained in favor of EMU through the first period as the Lady Royals cracked off 15 shots to only one for Randolph

In the second period Horning struck again with her sixth goal of the season, this time coming off a corner kick by Katie Lamm (Newmanstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon Co.).

Lamm later added her own goal in the 81st minute with Jordan Barkus (Millersburg, Pa./Millersburg) scoring her second goal of the season to cap the scoring.

Lamm now leads the team with 11 goals, placing her in a tie for sixth in the ODAC.

EMU out-shot Randolph by a total of 29-2, and held a 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lady Royals return home to close out the regular season as they host the undefeated Hornets of Lynchburg College. Lynchburg (13-0-3) is ranked third in the lastest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll released on October 21.
