Ben Strong poured in a game high 29 points as Guilford College collected a 103-75 decision over Eastern Mennonite University Sunday afternoon in Harrisonburg, Va.

The Quakers move to 12-4 overall and 7-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while the Royals fall to 4-11 on the year and 1-8 in the conference.

Senior guard Jered Lyons (Takoma Park, Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) led the Royals with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. Freshman guard D.J. Hinson (Newport News, Va./Menchville) scored 10 points while adding four assists and three steals.

Clay Henson (19 points) and Eric Belkoski (15 points) assisted Strong in the win for Guilford. The Quakers have now won four straight and currently sit 26th on the D3Hoops.com coaches poll.

The Royals hung with the Quakers early on in the game with the home team going up by one (11-10) with 12:24 on the clock. EMU, which had played a quick transition style of game on Saturday, had to switch to a more ball control offense against a physical Quaker team. Following the jumper by Hinson that gave EMU the lead, Strong put Guilford up by eight with four consecutive layups and a free throw. Henson added another bucket to give the visiting team a 10 point cushion with the lead expanding to 18 at one point. EMU cut it down to 14 to close out the half with Lyons dropping in one of his six treys.

Strong had 17 points in the first half with eight boards while Henson had nine points. Senior Brad Parkes (Winchester, Va./James Wood) recorded seven points while sophomore guard LeRoger Parrish (Danville, Va./Tunstall) had five points and a steal off the bench.

Guilford College took control of the game early in the second half and did not look back with the Quakers getting 13 points from Belkoski, 12 from Strong, and another 10 points from Henson. Belkoski was 4-for-4 from the floor with Strong also perfect from around the basket, going 6-for-6. Henson had six assists in the half.

The Quakers shot 45 percet in the first half but followed that up with a 73 percent shooting performance (25-of-34) in the second frame.

Freshman wing Todd Phillips (Waynesboro, Va./Waynesboro) had 10 points, five assists, and four rebounds off the bench for EMU.

The Royals will clash with the Generals of Washington & Lee on Wednesday, January 30, at 7 p.m. in Lexington, Va.
