#25 Randolph-Macon Defeats EMU Men's Basketball 94-68

D3Hoops.com poll, had five players score in double figures in route to a 94-68 conference win at the expense of the Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team Wednesday night in Ashland, Va.
The win boosts the Yellow Jackets record to 11-2 overall on the season and 5-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while the Royals fall to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the ODAC. Randolph-Macon sits currently in first place in the ODAC with Roanoke College, the Royals next opponent, placing second.
Justin Short lead the team with 19 points, on 7-of-10 shooting from the field with Jordan Brown adding 16 points off the bench for RMC. Jeremy Dixon and David Carlson each poured in 14 points, the latter of which also had six boards and four assists in the game.
EMU was led by freshman guard

George Johnson (Richmond, Va./Miller School) had 10 points and was 3-of-5 from behind the arc.
The Yellow Jackets went on a 14-0 run early in the first half with Danny Jones hitting a trey to put the home team up by 13 with 13:27 on the clock. The Royals battled back as three-pointers by Johnson and
Devon McRae (Altavista, Va./Altavista) and a bucket from freshman
Rashawn Hannah (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) cut the margin to five.
Hinson followed with a trey of his own in the Royals next possession to give the Yellow Jackets a slim two point advantage (14-12). The game swung back to Randolph-Macon with the home team going up by eight with 8:44 remaining. EMU again closed the gap and almost tied the game as Johnson hit another three-pointer to make the score 23-22 with 7:40 left.
RMC again allowed the Royals to remain close for a while before pulling away down the stretch as buckets by Carlson and Short put the Yellow Jackets up by 13 as the teams entered the locker rooms.
Freshman
Todd Phillips (Waynesboro, Va./Waynesboro) had five points in the first half for EMU while senior center
Corey Bailey (Centreville, Va./Brentsville District) came off the bench and registered had seven boards.
Randolph-Macon poured on the offense in the second half with the Yellow Jackets increasing their lead to 18 in the first two minutes of the frame. Brown had 12 points in the half for RMC on 5-of-6 shooting from the field with Boris Valera adding five points and three rebounds.
Sophomore
Jason Rutschman (Troutville, Va./Lord Botetourt) scored eight points and was 2-of-3 from behind the arc for EMU.
The Royals will remain on the road as they travel south to take on the Maroons of Roanoke College on Saturday, January 19, for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
