Women's Volleyball 1-1 at Gettysburg Battlefield Classic

The Eastern Mennonite University women's volleyball team split its two game set on Friday, September 7, at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic. The Lady Royals dropped the first match to Salisbury, but shut out Lycoming College 3-0.
In the first game against Salisbury the Lady Royals were held without a win even after a long second game in which Sea Gulls eventually won 34-32. Game scores for games one and three were, 30-19, and 30-15.
Junior setter
Sara Hoffman (Leesburg, Fla.) had 18 assists while senior
Courtney Miller (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) had 21 digs.
Senior
Megan Good (Quito, Ecquador/Prairie), sophomore
Laura Stoltzfus (Parnell, Ia./Iowa Mennonite) and Miller each had five kills in the loss.
Game two against Lycoming College proved to be a different story as EMU took control of the match early on and did not look back. Game scores were 30-25, 30-26, and 30-17.
Freshman
Monika Burkholder (Linville, Va./Eastern Mennonite) had a team high 14 kills and four solo blocks with Good and Stoltzfus had another seven kills and three service aces each.
Hoffman recorded 31 assists in the second game to finish with 49 assists in two matches while freshman
Jenny Blosser (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) and Miller had 19 digs each.
EMU will now play in the second day of the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic on Saturday, September 7.
