EMU Splits Tri-Match at Guilford College

Eastern Mennonite University women's volleyball team split their two matches at Guilford College as the Lady Royals defeated the Quakers in three games, but dropped their second match to Southern Virginia 3-0.
Game scores for the first game were 31-29, 30-28, and 30-23.
Senior
Megan Good (Quito, Ecuador/Prairie) led the team with 11 kills in 24 attempts for a .375 attack percentage and two solo blocks.
Freshman
Monika Burkholder (Linville, Va./Eastern Mennonite) had eight kills while junior setter
Sara Hoffman (Leesburg, Fla./Leesburg) had 28 assists.
Seniors
Courtney Miller (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite),
Laura Bomberger (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite), and sophomore
Laura Stoltzfus (Parnell, Ia./Iowa Mennonite) each reached double-digits in digs with Miller recording 18, Bomberger with 13, and Stoltzfus digging out another 10 balls for EMU.
Anna Miller had 10 kills and 12 digs for Guilford College.
In the second game of the day against Southern Virginia the Lady Royals struggled to mount an offensive attack in the first game and could not comeback against the Knights as SVU cruised to a 3-0 win.
Game scores were 30-15, 30-26, 30-20.
Senior
Frances Pfister (Madison Heights, Va./New Covenant) had six kills and four block assists while Miller led the team with seven kills and 14 digs.
Freshman
Tabitha Beales (Bealeton, Va./Liberty) came off the bench and recorded four kills and two solo blocks in the loss.
The Lady Royals will return to the court on Tuesday, September 18, as they travel down to Ferrum to take on the Panthers. The match will start at 6:30 p.m.
