Lyons, Sager, lead Royals Past Bridgewater 69-60

Jason Sager (Edinburg, Va.) notched his fifth double-double of the season while junior
Jered Lyons (Takoma Park, Md.) was 6-of-8 from behind the arc as the Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team defeated the Bridgewater College Eagles 69-60 behind a crowd of 858 in Yoder Arena.
Sager finished with a team-high 26 points and 12 rebounds while Lyons had 20 points, three assists, and three steals for EMU.
Both teams were unable to get their offense going in the early part of the contest as the Eagles were up 1-0 through the games first two minutes. The Royals got on the board at the 17:45 mark on a two free-throws by Sager and never looked back. EMU had a 12-point lead before the break but the Eagles chipped away and went into halftime down 30-20.
Dominic Trawick finished with 18 points, scoring six of those in the first half. Josh Fox had another 10 points for BC.
In the second half the Royals again took control of the game by taking advantage of turnovers by the Eagles. EMU scored 29 points off turnovers with 16 points coming in the first half.
Junior
Brad Parkes (Winchester, Va.) had eight points for EMU which improves to 7-12 overall and 3-10 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Bridgewater falls to 6-14 overall and 3-10 in the conference.
The Royals are back in action on Wednesday, February 7, as they take on the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan at 7 p.m.
