Lady Royals Fall 66-57 to Roanoke

Roanoke College withstood a late charge in the second half to defeat the Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team 66-57 Friday night in Roanoke, Va.
The Lady Royals fall to 16-7 overall and 14-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while Roanoke improves to 14-10 overall and 12-7 in the conference.
Roanoke had four players score in double-figures with Torri Bridge leading the charge with 15 points. Jeleesa Osbourne had another 13 points for RC while Cindy McGraw had 10 points, six assists and six steals for the Maroons.
EMU fell behind early in the first half and was unable to gain any momentum as Roanoke carried a 38-29 lead into the break. The Lady Royals were able to come back in the second half behind freshman
Ebony Dennis (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore
Carolyn Riley (Warrenton, Va.). Dennis led the Lady Royals with nine points in the half and finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists while Riley and junior center
Jolene Kratz (Telford, Pa.) each poured in 10 points for EMU.
Senior guard
Tara Jones (Richmond, Va.) recorded a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds for EMU while freshman
Lele Shumate (McDowell, Va.) had eight points off the bench for the Lady Royals.
Caitlyn Long finished with 12 points for RC.
The Lady Royals will return to the court tomorrow, February 17, as they host Virginia Wesleyan at 3 p.m.
