Shenandoah Defeats EMU Men's Basketball 85-64

Jeremiah Lawrence scored 26 points while pulling down a team high 10 boards as the Shenandoah Hornets improved to 2-1 on the season with an 85-64 non-conference win over Eastern Mennonite University.
EMU falls to 0-1 on the season and will now take on Ferrum College on Wednesday, November 28, at 7 p.m. in their next contest.
Shenandoah had an early eight-point lead in the 17th minute before the Royals came storming back late in the half. A trey by
George Johnson (Richmond, Va./Miller School) cut the Hornets lead to two with 9:33 left on the clock. The Royals took their first lead of the game 30 seconds later on a lay up by
Devon McRae (Altavista, Va./Altavista). SU tied the game on a jumper by Lawrence with just under five minutes remaining before closing the first half with a 39-34 lead.
Senior

D.J. Hinson (Newport News, Va./Mechville) led the squad with 12 points each while senior
Corey Bailey (Centreville, Va./Brentsville District) pulled down three boards and had two blocked shots.
Shenandoah maintained a single-digit lead in the second half before a couple of free throws and a three-pointer by Stevie Johns gave the visiting Hornets a 13 point cushion with 11 minutes to play. SU then opened up on offense with Lawrence scoring 13 of his team high 26 points in the second half.
Johns (10 points) and Onyie Onunaku (13 points) each scored in double figures for SU in the second half as the Hornets had two 9-0 scoring runs midway through the period.
Sophomore
Austin Twine (Dublin, Va./Pulaski Co.) had seven points, three steals, and two rebounds for EMU in the loss.
