The Eastern Mennonite University women's volleyball team split their two-game set against the University of Dallas and Roanoke College Saturday afternoon in Roanoke, Va.

EMU won the first match against Dallas in five games. Game scores were 30-26, 30-26, 20-30, 15-30, and 15-13.

Against Roanoke College the Lady Royals were defeated in three games with games scores of 30-22, 30-20, and 30-22.

"We had a balanced attack in both games and we tried to get our passes to the middle," commented EMU coach Steve Benson. "They took advantage of our weaknesses (Dallas Baptist) in the first match but we had some big blocks by Frances Pfister (Madison Heights, Va./New Covenant) and Courtney Miller (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) that helped us in game five."

The Lady Royals will continue play in the Roanoke Classic tomorrow with the matches being moved up from the original time slot. EMU will now play at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. against Mary Washington and Mary Baldwin respectively.
