Lady Royals Defeat Hollins 100-43

Sophomores Carolyn Riley (Warrenton, Va.) and Mandee Madden (Winchester, Va.) each scored 19 points as the Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team collected a 100-43 win over Hollins University.

The Lady Royals improve to 13-5 overall and 11-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while Hollins drops to 1-16 overall and 1-12 in the conference.

Riley added five assists and five boards on the night for EMU while Madden was 5-of-8 from behind the arc. Sophomore Kathleen Steele (Gainesville, Va.) had 16 points, six boards, and two steals for EMU while senior Tara Jones (Richmond, Va.) added another 12 points and four assists in the win.

Hollins was led by Ashleigh Smith who finished with a team-high 17 points and five rebounds. Allison Kibler and Nicole Grant each scored another eight points for HU.

Freshman Takita Mease (Gretna, Va.) had eight points off the bench for the Lady Royals while junior Jolene Kratz (Telford, Pa.) led the team with four steals while contributing six points.

EMU will return to the court on Friday, February 2, as the Lady Royals head south to take on Emory & Henry in Emory, Va. at 7 p.m.
