#5 Virginia Wesleyan Defeats EMU Men's Basketball 85-56

Senior All-American Brandon Adair had 24 points and seven rebounds as the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins defeated the Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team 85-56 Wednesday night in Yoder Arena.
Jason Sager (Edinburg, Va.) sparked the EMU offense in the first half as the senior forward scored seven points in the games first five minutes and finished the first half with 12 points. Sager ended the contest with 14 points, eight boards, and two steals.
Matching Sager in the first half was Adair who poured in 12 points for the Marlins while TonTon Balenga had another eight points in the half for VWC.
Balenga finished the game with 14 points with Stephen Fields tallying 10 points and four rebounds for the Marlins.
Freshman
Yanni El' DeJesus (Salem, Va.) recorded 10 points with two assists for the Royals.
EMU is now 5-8 overall on the season and 1-6 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while Virginia Wesleyan improves to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in the conference.
The Royals will now travel south for a weekend trip to take on Emory & Henry on Saturday, January 20, at 2 p.m. EMU will then take on the Quakers of Guilford College on Sunday at 3 p.m.
