Royals Fall to Roanoke 78-58

Curtis Peery scored 23 points on 10-for-11 shooting from the field to lead Roanoke College to a 78-58 win over the Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team Saturday night in Yoder Arena.
Roanoke jumped out to an early eight point lead and pushed their lead up to 11 before the Royals were able to counter back and close to within six of Roanoke with less than a minute remaining. Junior
Brad Parkes (Winchester, Va.) had a team high six points at the break and finished the contest with 17 points and five boards.
The Maroons again took control in the second half of the game and increased their lead thanks to the play of Peery and Josh LaPorte. LaPorte finished with 13 points and 10 boards for the double-double while also recording two blocks.

Jason Sager (Edinburg, Va.) added another six points, four steals, and four assists for EMU.
EMU is now 5-7 overall on the season and 1-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while Roanoke improves to 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday, January 17 as they host the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan at 7 p.m.
