Four Lady Royals Reach Double Figures in 67-49 Win Over Guilford

The Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team moved up the Old Dominion Athletic Conference standings after its 67-49 conference win over Guilford College Friday evening in Yoder Arena.
Four Lady Royals scored in double figures with senior
Tara Jones (Richmond, Va.) and junior
Jolene Kratz (Telford, Pa.) leading the way with 12 points each. Kratz recorded three blocks and six boards while sophomore
Carolyn Riley (Warrenton, Va.) added another 11 points and seven rebounds for EMU.
The Lady Royals never trailed in the contest and went into the half leading 40-28 over the Quakers. Kratz led EMU with eight points at the half while freshman
Ebony Dennis (Baltimore, Md.) had seven points and three assists. Dennis finished the contest with 10 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals in 22 minutes of action.
Tracey Croner led all scorers with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field for Guilford. Ann Seufer tallied 10 points while Alexa Williams led the team with nine boards.
Freshman
Melissa Lewis (Stuarts Draft, Va.) had five points and six assists for EMU.
The Lady Royals are now 8-3 overall on the season and 6-2 in the ODAC while Guilford College falls to 7-7 overall and 6-3 in the conference.
EMU will take a short break as the Lady Royals return to the court tomorrow as they host the Wasps of Emory & Henry in the first game of a double-header. The women's basketball team tips off at 4 p.m. with the EMU men hosting Roanoke College following at 7 p.m.
