EMU Hands Roanoke 2-1 Loss

The Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and 4-1 overall with a 2-1 victory over Roanoke College Saturday afternoon in Roanoke, Va.
Sophomore
Katie Lamm (Newmanstown, Pa.) gave EMU the early lead in the first period with her sixth goal of the season at the 4:15 mark to put the Lady Royals up 1-0. Lamm has now scored in each of the Lady Royals first six games this season.
The game remained 1-0 until the second period when freshman
Mattie Horning (Morgantown, Pa.) scored her second career goal only four minutes into the period. Horning was assisted by freshman
Lindsey Snyder (Mechanicsburg, Pa.).
Roanoke responded with a goal of its own at the 56:44 mark when Kristen McCoy knocked a shot past EMU keeper
Joy Shaiebly (Lancaster, Pa.) to cut the Lady Royals lead to 2-1.
Shaiebly finished the game with seven saves while Roanoke keeper Erin Hanson tallied four saves on the day.
The Lady Royals will look to remain perfect in the ODAC when they host Guilford College on Wednesday, September 20, at 4 p.m.
