Lady Royals Easily Defeat Sweet Briar 4-0

Katie Lamm (Newmanstown, Pa.) scored two goals to lead the Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Sweet Briar in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match-up Tuesday night at the EMU Turf Field.
EMU (3-1, 1-0) and Sweet Briar (1-2, 0-1) remained scoreless through the first 30 minutes of the contest before sophomore
Alana Wenger (New Holland, Pa.) opened the flood gates for the Lady Royals with her first goal of the season at the 30:29 mark.
EMU tacked on another goal nine minutes later when Lamm scored her first goal of the game off an assist by Wenger. Lamm then drew a foul in the box against Vixen keeper Kristen Johnson (45:35) to set up her second goal of the game on the penalty kick. Lamm has scored in all four of the Lady Royals contests this season and leads the team with seven goals.
Freshman
Mattie Horning (Morgantown, Pa.) capped the scoring for EMU with her first collegiate goal only four minutes after Lamm's second goal of the game.
EMU finished the game with 29 shots compared to only one for Sweet Briar while the Lady Royals also had 10 corner kicks to zero for the Vixens.
Johnson had nine saves in the game for Sweet Briar before being red-carded in the second period. Claire Bryan finished out the game for the Vixens and notched four saves.
The Lady Royals will return to the field on Saturday, September 16, when they take on ODAC foe Roanoke College. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
