Guilford Pulls Out 70-66 Men's Basketball Win Over EMU

Sophomore Caleb Kimbrough's three-pointer with 2:32 to go broke a 60-60 tie and Guilford College went on to record the 70-66 win over Eastern Mennonite University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Sunday afternoon in Harrisonburg, Va.
GC (11-11, 9-6 ODAC) led for most of the first half with EMU (11-11, 6-9 ODAC) closing to 28-26 at the break. The second half featured six lead changes and nine ties as the teams battled for control. Kimbrough's (Carrboro, N.C.) trey gave the Quakers the lead for good. GC was able to hold on the rest of the way for the 70-66 win.
Sophomore center Ben Strong (Chapel Hill, N.C.) had a double-double for GC with 13 points, 11 boards, and three blocks. Kimbrough and junior guard Jordan Snipes (Siler City, N.C.) each finished with 11 points.
EMU was led by sophomore guard Korey Whiting's (Stafford, Va.) 13 points, four boards, and five steals. Sophomore guard Brad Parkes (Winchester, Va.) had 12 points and six boards. Junior forward Jason Sager (Edinburg, Va.) had 12 points, five boards, three assists, and two blocks. Junior guard JoMorrae Gordon (Oakdale, Calif.) added 10 points while senior forward E.J. Arrington (Staunton, Va.) had three points and a team-high 11 boards.
GC shot 47.4% from the floor, hit 5-of-13 (38.5%) three-pointers, and went 11-for-19 at the charity stripe. EMU led in rebounds 43-39, but shot just 35.5% from the floor. The Royals were also 4-of-18 (22.2%) on three-pointers and 18-of-27 (66.7%) on free throws.
EMU will play its home finale on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. home game against Randolph-Macon College.
