#9 Randolph-Macon Handles EMU 88-66 in Women's Basketball

Senior guard Megan Silva had 32 points, seven assists, and seven steals to lead Randolph-Macon College to an 88-66 win over Eastern Mennonite University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon in Harrisonburg, Va.
R-MC (20-2, 17-1 ODAC) entered the game ranked 10th nationally in the most recent Women's Basketball Coaches Association/USA Today/ESPN Division III coaches poll and ninth in the D3hoops.com poll. The Yellow Jackets won their 14th game in a row.
The Yellow Jackets never trailed in the game, led by 16 just 12 minutes into the ball game, and took an 18-point lead into the halftime break. EMU (14-9, 10-8 ODAC) crawled to within 16 in the second half but R-MC went on to win 88-66.
Silva (Glen Allen, Va.) tied her season-high with 32 points while adding seven assists and seven steals. It was her fourth game of the season over 30 points. Senior center Michelle Orton (Silver Springs, Md.) had 19 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. Junior guard Salem Shaffer (Glens Falls, N.Y.) added 18 points, five rebounds, and six assists.
Senior center Amanda Renalds (Bridgewater, Va.) led EMU with her fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds. She passed into fifth on the career rebounding list with 695, passing Laurie Miller ('98) who had 684. Senior forward Stephanie Mathews (Woodstock, Va.) added 13 points, five boards, and two steals. She moved into seventh on the career scoring chart with 1,170 points, passing Suzie French ('88) who had 1,162.
R-MC shot 52.7% from the floor and made 6-of-11 (54.5%) three-pointers. EMU shot 34% from the floor and made 3-of-9 (33%) three-pointers. EMU made 29-of-35 (82.9%) free throws while R-MC was just 4-for-4 for the game.
The Yellow Jackets committed 24 fouls, compared to just nine for the Lady Royals. At one point the fouls were 15-1 for the game. The Lady Royals also led in rebounds 39-32. However, EMU had just five assists to 23 turnovers while R-MC had 21 assists to just 13 turnovers. At halftime, turnovers were 14-1.
EMU will play its final road game of the season on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Virginia Wesleyan College.
