Randolph-Macon Defeats Lady Royals 62-53

Randolph-Macon had three players score in double figures as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team 62-53 Saturday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match-up.

The Lady Royals fall to 4-2 overall on the season with a 2-2 mark in the ODAC. Randolph-Macon improves to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Not to be overlooked by the loss for EMU was the strong play of junior forward Jolene Kratz (Telford, Pa.) who contributed 15 points, eight rebounds, and five steals. Freshman Ebony Dennis (Baltimore, Md.) added 10 rebounds and five points while sophomore forward Carolyn Riley (Warrenton, Va.) added another 10 points and five boards for EMU.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore Lindsey Riesbeck who notched 14 points and five rebounds while Molly Ariail added another 13 points off the bench for RMC.

Amanda Hiltunen chipped in another 10 points and three assists for the Yellow Jackets. RMC 31-25 at the half with Riesbeck recording 12 of her 14 points in that half. The Lady Royals held Riesbeck at bay in the second half with Dennis leading the EMU offense with five points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field.

The Lady Royals return to action on Saturday, December 16 as they travel north on Interstate 81 to take on Shenandoah. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
