The Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer team saw its season come to an end Wednesday afternoon as the Guilford College Quakers advanced to the championship match to face Virginia Wesleyan after defeating the Lady Royals 4-5 on penalty kicks after the two teams battled through regulation and two overtime periods with neither team able to score.

EMU ends its season with a 13-5 record overall and a 9-2 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while Guilford improves to 13-5-3 overall on the season.

Both teams were unable to score throughout regulation as each defense keyed in on the opposing teams offensive threat. Guilford continually kept sophomore Katie Lamm (Newmanstown, Pa.) in its sights while the Lady Royals shut down the ODACs leading scorer in Jenna Carter through 110 minutes of play.

Senior goalkeeper Joy Shaiebly (Lancaster, Pa.) finished the game with six saves for the Lady Royals. Shaiebly, along with freshman defender Susannah Wirick (West Liberty, Ohio) were named to the ODAC All-Tournament team following the ODAC Championship on Saturday.

Emily Ott scored the game-winning goal after Zych was able to block the previous kick by EMU during the fifth and final round of penalty kicks. Zych tallied three saves overall for Guilford.
