Lady Royals Defeat Emory & Henry 5-2

The Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer team, ranked fifth overall in the adidas/NSCAA coaches poll (south region), made sure their ranking would only rise as the Lady Royals defeated the Wasps of Emory & Henry by a score of 5-2 Saturday afternoon in Emory, Va.
EMU improved to 12-3 overall on the season and 9-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while Emory & Henry saw its record drop to 7-9 overall and 2-7 in the conference. To view complete adidas/NSCAA rankings

Leading the offense for EMU was freshman
Mattie Horning (Morgantown, Pa.). Horning tallied two goals against the Wasps with sophomore
Kelsey Yoder (Canby, Ore.) assisting on the first goal.
Sophomores
Katie Lamm (Newmanstown, Pa.), and
Alana Wenger (New Holland, Pa.) also scored goals for the Lady Royals while freshman
Valerie Burton (Staunton, Va.) capped the scoring with her first goal of the season.
EMU out shot Emory & Henry 27-5 while also recording seven corner kicks to the Wasps one.
The Lady Royals will stay on the road as they travel to Lexington, Va., to take on the Generals of Washington & Lee on Tuesday, October 24 at 4 p.m. for their last game of the regular season.
