Bend it like Beckham? From now on the Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer team will be saying "Bend it like Lamm" as sophomore forward Katie Lamm (Newmanstown, Pa.) scored the game winning goal off a corner kick to give the Lady Royals the 2-1 win over Lynchburg College.

The win gives EMU a 10-3 record overall and a 7-1 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while Lynchburg falls to 10-4-1 overall and 6-3 in the conference.

Lamm, who had scored earlier in the contest off an assist from sophomore Valerie Burton (Staunton, Va.) was chosen to take the corner kick midway through the second period. Lamm served the ball into the air from the left corner and put enough spin on it to cut across the outstretched hands of Lynchburg goalkeeper Ashley Taylor-Fuller and put the Lady Royals up 2-1.

Lamm leads the team with 15 goals this season after finishing with the same amount last season.

Senior goalkeeper Joy Shaiebly (Lancaster, Pa.) finished with seven saves and only one goal allowed while her counterpart Taylor-Fuller tallied four saves in the loss.

Audra Hamby scored the games only goal for Lynchburg almost four minutes into the contest. The goal was Hamby's ninth of the season.

EMU will now head on the road to finish the season out as they travel first to Ashland, Va., to take on Randolph-Macon College. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
