EMU Women Top Lynchburg 67-49

Eastern Mennonite University jumped out to a 12-2 lead and never looked back in recording a 67-49 Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's basketball victory over Lynchburg College on Saturday afternoon in Harrisonburg, Va.
EMU (7-4, 3-3 ODAC) led by as much as 12 in the first half before carrying a 32-25 lead into the halftime break. LC (3-7, 2-4 ODAC) cut it as close as five at 49-44 with 8:40 remaining before the Lady Royals put together a 16-1 run to go up by 20 with 2:32 remaining. EMU went on to win 67-49.
Senior center Amanda Renalds (Bridgewater, Va.) led EMU with 13 points, five boards, and four blocks. Sophomore guard Megan Seward (Winchester, Va.) went 4-for-8 from the three-point arch for a career-high 12 points. Sophomore forward Jolene Kratz (Telford, Pa.) added eight points and eight boards.
Junior center Caroline Wesley (Baltimore, Md.) had a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards for the Hornets.
EMU shot 42.6% from the floor while LC shot 29.2%. The Hornets held a 38-36 edge in rebounds but committed 21 turnovers, compared to 11 for the Lady Royals.
EMU returns to action on Sunday with a 2 p.m. home contest against the Wildcats of Randolph-Macon Woman's College.
