Amanda Renalds Named ODAC Player of the Week
Eastern Mennonite University senior Amanda Renalds was named Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week after earning Most Valuable Player honors at the 2005 EMU Loyal Royals Tip-Off Tournament over the weekend. The award was announced by the ODAC on Monday in Salem, Va.
Renalds, a center from Bridgewater, Va., scored 17 points in each game as EMU defeated Ferrum 69-59 and Averett 78-48 in winning the 2005 EMU Loyal Royals Tip-Off Tournament. Renalds was named Tournament MVP with 34 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and six steals over two games. In the opening win over Ferrum, she scored her 1,000th career point with a free throw early in the first half.
The award is the third Player of the Week honor in the last two years for the returning First Team All-Conference player. EMU carries its 2-0 record into tonight's non-conference game with Mary Baldwin College at 7 p.m.
