EMU Sweeps Mary Baldwin 3-0 in Volleyball

Eastern Mennonite University won its second match in a row with a 3-0 sweep of Mary Baldwin College in non-conference women's volleyball action on Friday night in Harrisonburg, Va.

EMU (2-17) defeated MBC (8-10) by game scores of 30-18, 30-12, and 31-29. It was the second straight victory for the Lady Royals after snapping a 27-match losing skid. EMU hit .246 as a team, the second best mark of the season, and also recorded 11 service aces and seven total blocks.

Sophomore Courtney Miller (Harrisonburg, Va.) had a career-high 16 kills and a season-best .441 attack percentage. She also had 12 digs for a double-double, along with two service aces. Sophomore Megan Good (Alberta, Canada) had nine kills, three digs, and four total blocks while junior Lisa Berry (Dalton, Ohio) also had nine kills along with seven digs. Junior Brittany Zalud (Chesapeake, Va.) averaged 9.3 assists per game and junior Kara Stoltzfus (Parnell, Iowa) had 11 digs.

Freshman Kirstin Holmberg (Tryon, N.C.), freshman Angela Dellinger (Manassas, Va.) and sophomore Lacey Ogburn (Richmond, Va.) had five kills apiece to lead the Fighting Squirrels. Sophomore Amanda Chambers (Staunton, Va.) had a match-high 17 digs and freshman Karen Meyer added 10 digs.

EMU will be home again on Saturday with a 2 p.m. match against Shenandoah University.
