EMU Ties Guilford 0-0, Falls on Penalty Kicks 4-2 in Women's Soccer

Eastern Mennonite University and Guilford College battled to a scoreless tie through two overtime periods before Guilford pulled out a 4-2 win on penalty kicks in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C.
Guilford (12-5-3) led EMU (8-6-4) in shots 28-9 and corner kicks 5-2. EMU committed 12 fouls compared to nine for Guilford. Senior Joy Shaiebly (Lancaster, Pa.) had nine saves for the Lady Royals. Senior Danielle Brisotti (Island Park, N.Y.) had five saves to earn the victory for the Quakers.
Junior Chelsea Glover (Durham, N.C.), sophomore Micki Boulineau (Little River, S.C.), freshman Amanda Sperr (Charlotte, N.C.), and junior Emily Ott (Gainesville, Fla.) all connected on penalty kicks for Guilford. Senior Christy Hurst (Ephrata, Pa.) and sophomore Sarah Hurst (Dillsburg, Pa.) each scored on penalty kicks for the Lady Royals.
In other quarterfinal games, #2 Washington and Lee (13-1-3) defeated #7 Emory & Henry (10-8-1) by a score of 7-0. Third-seeded Lynchburg (14-3-2) shutout sixth-seeded Randolph-Macon (10-8) 1-0 in overtime. Top-seeded Virginia Wesleyan (18-0-1) shutout #8 Roanoke (6-8-3) 1-0.
