Emory & Henry Halts EMU Streak with 3-1 Volleyball Win

Emory and Henry College rebounded from dropping the first game to record a 3-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's volleyball match on Saturday in Harrisonburg, Va.

EHC (10-10, 3-5 ODAC) defeated EMU (4-18, 2-6 ODAC) by game scores of 21-30, 30-21, 30-22, and 30-27. The loss for the Lady Royals snapped a four-game winning streak.

Sophomore Megan Good (Alberta, Canada) led all players with a career-high 21 kills on a .421 attack percentage. She also had six digs, three total blocks, one assist, and one service ace. Two EMU players had double-doubles as junior Lisa Berry (Dalton, Ohio) had 16 kills and 17 digs and sophomore Courtney Miller (Harrisonburg, Va.) tallied 10 kills and 15 digs.

Sophomore Frances Pfister (Madison Heights, Va.) added 11 kills, three assists, two digs, and three blocks for the Lady Royals. Freshman Dana Sprowl (Swoope, Va.) accumulated 10 kills and five total blocks. Freshman Jamie Morgan (McGaheysville, Va.) and junior Kara Stoltzfus (Parnell, Iowa) had 15 digs each. Junior Brittany Zalud (Chesapeake, Va.) had 58 assists and 11 digs.

Senior Whitney Erwin (Bristol, Va.) had a double-double for the Wasps with 15 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Juliana Garren (Ridgeway, Va.) had 11 kills and six digs. Junior Emily Tolley (Bristol, Va.) added to the attack with 10 kills.

Junior Amber Green (Bristol, Tenn.) led all players with 24 digs for the afternoon. Freshman Lauren Thurman (Hardy, Va.) added 13 digs and fellow freshman Kayla Morelock (Kingsport, Tenn.) contributed 10 digs. Senior Emily Myers (Chesapeake, Va.) recorded 46 assists and 14 digs.

EMU will be home again on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. match against Randolph-Macon College.
