Lady Royals tie an all-time record for the best start by an EMU woman's basketball team
LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Lady Royals tied an all-time record for the best start by an EMU woman's basketball team with their 84-69 win over Lynchburg College. The win gives the Lady Royals a 13-1 record overall and a 9-1 record in the ODAC.
Amanda Renalds (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) and Stephanie Mathews (Woodstock, Va./Central) paced EMU scoring 21 points each. Renalds was 9-10 from the floor while Mathews added nine rebounds for the Lady Royals.
Carrie Grandstaff (Luray, Va./Mt. Carmel Christian) and Laura Ludholtz (Mt. Crawford, Va./Fort Defiance) also scored in double digits for the Lady Royals. Grandstaff poured in 19 points while Ludholtz added another 10 points and nine rebounds. Shantee Bryant (Verona, Va./Robert E Lee) added six assists for EMU.
EMU shot 54% from the floor as a team while Lynchburg shot only 34%.
The Lady Royals will be back in action on Saturday, January 24 at Virginia Wesleyan. Game time is scheduled for 2 pm.
