HARRISONBURG, Va. – The EMU women's soccer team opened up the ODAC quarterfinals at home with a 2-0

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The EMU women's soccer team opened up the ODAC quarterfinals at home with an impressive 2-0 shut out of Guilford College. The Lady Royals will now head into Semi-Finals action beginning next week.

EMU got things started off in the late in the first period when Sarah Buller (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) scored unassisted to put the Lady Royals ahead 1-0. Buller was also solid on defense, stifling the Quakers offensive throughout the day.

The first period proved to be a precursor of what was to come when the second period started. Both teams shut down the opposing offenses while the goal keepers kept the game knotted at
1-0. Guilford keeper Danielle Brisotti finished the day with three saves.

The Royals, like they have all season, got strong defensive play from keeper Joy Shaiebly (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite). Shaiebly, who finished the regular season with two shutouts, saved 10 shots while protecting the Lady Royals lead and shutting down the Quaker offense.

The Lady Royals would tack on another goal late in the second period to ensure the victory. Ellie Lind, (Durban, South Africa/Three Rivers (Mich.)) the EMU record holder in points scored and goals in a season, did what Royal fans have become accustomed to her doing when she put the ball past Brisotti for the goal to put EMU up 2-0.

With the win the Lady Royals improve to 10-7 overall while Guilford College ends their season with a school record 11 wins
