EMU Losing Streak Reaches Ten Games

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team's losing streak reached ten games as Roanoke came to town to defeat the Royals 92-71 at the University Commons Wednesday evening. Page Moir collected his 251st career win that moved him into second place all-time at Roanoke College.

The start of the game was like the start of a fireworks show as both teams were hot from the floor. EMU missed their opening jumper but scored on their next four possessions. The Maroons (10-8, 7-4 ODAC) answered each bucket with a score of their own. The teams would remain close then EMU (2-15, 0-10 ODAC) opened a six-point advantage with 8:39 remaining. Roanoke would cut that advantage to one-point in just a minute as Bryan Fasnacht nailed a three-pointer. Jason Graffam would give the Maroons the lead for good with just under six minutes left in the first period.

Roanoke pushed the lead to double digits as the seconds ticked down in the first half. The Maroons enjoyed their largest lead of the first half of twelve points as Josh Foster connected on Roanoke's seventh trey of the first period. EMU and Roanoke combined to hit 14 from downtown while Roanoke shot 58% and EMU hit 42% of their shots.

Unlike the first half EMU came out and missed their first six shots of the final period. The Maroons took this to their advantage and opened a 20-point lead. Roanoke remained hot throughout the second half hitting 50% from the floor and 53.5% for the game. The Maroons held their largest lead at 30 points with 6:57 left in the game. Both benches pulled their starters and put in reserves as Roanoke would capture the win.

Bryan Williams (Stafford, Va./Evangel Christian) led EMU with 13 points. E.J Arrington (Staunton, Va./Stuarts Draft) added 11 points and seven rebounds. Joseph Turner (Staunton, Va./Robert E.
