The Lady Royals dropped a close game to 12th ranked Roanoke College by a score of 1-0. Junior Goalke
Roanoke, VA - The Lady Royals traveled to Roanoke to take on the Maroons (7-0, 5-0 ODAC), the 12th ranked team in the nation. The Lady Royals (6-2, 5-1 ODAC) were looking to win their 6th straight game and remain unbeaten in the ODAC. Coach Steffen's squad was playing shorthanded without injured freshman Christy Hurst (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) and sophomore Audra Baker (Lebanon, OR/West Mennonite) is just returning to game shape from an injury of her own.
The Lady Royals played well against Roanoke College who currently sits atop the ODAC with a perfect 7-0 record. EMU had outscored their opponents 32-1 in their last five games but were unable to get a goal against the Maroons. Junior Goalkeeper Rochelle Yoder recorded 8 saves in the game but could not stop a shot by Roanoke forward Tiffany Jones halfway through the first period. The goal turned out to be the game winner.
EMU will be in action again on Saturday September 28th at 1:00pm when they take on Virginia Wesleyan College in another ODAC match-up.
