On a frigid night at EMU's Turf Field, the Lady Royals torched the Quakers of Guilford College 7-0 i

Harrisonburg, VA – Despite the cold weather the Lady Royals (12-3-3, 7-2-2 ODAC) came out on fire tonight dominating Guilford College (9-9-2, 4-6-1 ODAC) in their final home contest before the ODAC Tournament. The Lady Royals maintained an intense offensive attack the entire game out shooting the Quakers 23-5 on the evening. EMU's shots on goal proved to be productive as the Lady Royals scored five goals in the first period, and added two more in the second period.

The Lady Royals threatened to score several times in the early moments of the game, missing just wide on several shots and hitting the goalpost on a number of occasions. Freshman Tara Plank (Goshen, IN/Bethany Christian) got things started for the Lady Royals scoring the first goal of the game on an assist from Junior Ellie Lind (Durban, South Africa/Three Rivers) at the 20 minute mark. Just two minutes later Lind collected a rebound on a shot that bounced off of the Quaker's goalpost and put the ball in the back of the net to give EMU a 2-0 lead. Before the end of the first period Lind dished out another assist, this time to Sophomore Becky Yoder (Atglen, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) giving EMU a 3-0 lead. Lind then scored another goal, her second of the game, after breaking free from a Guilford defender to receive a great pass from Senior Adrea Kuhns (Silt, CO/Rifle) extending the EMU lead to four points. Before the end of the half, Sophomore Audra Baker (Lebanon, OR/Western Mennonite) recorded her first goal of the game with Junior teammate Heather Bauman (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) picking up an assist on the play. Baker broke free down the right sideline to receive a long pass from Bauman, launching a high arching shot from 30 yards away that found the back left side of the net open to give EMU a 5-0 lead at half-time.

Four minutes into the second period Baker struck again. Senior Jen Morey (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) found Baker wide open on the right side of the field for the shot on goal giving the Lady Royals a 6-0 advantage. The Lady Royals scored again at the 68 minute mark off of a corner kick that was blocked just inside the penalty box. Lind picked up the blocked shot and flipped it into the top right corner of the net with a shot from the left baseline giving EMU a 7-0 shutout victory in their final home game of the season. With the win the Lady Royals remain un-beaten in their last four games, a streak they hope to improve upon as they enter into the ODAC Tournament on November the 8th.
