Lady Royals drop volleyball match in three games. EMU will end their season Friday, November 1 on th
HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Eastern Mennonite University Women's Volleyball team lost in straight games to visiting Roanoke College Tuesday evening at the University Commons. Scores were as follows 30-22, 30-20, and 30-22.
The Maroons (23-3, 9-0 ODAC) came into tonight's match undefeated and atop the conference in a tie with Washington and Lee. Roanoke dominated much of the match in the first two games led by a talented trio of Ashlei Tripp, Melissa Slusher, and Heather Cook. Cook led all with 13 kills, 3 service aces and a .346 hitting percentage. Holly Holland recorded 29 assists while Slusher tallied 16 digs.
The Lady Royals (8-18, 3-6 ODAC) led much of the third game with superb play by Stephanie Miller (Hartville, Oh./Central Christian) and Becky Langstraat (Corvalis, Ore./Corvalis) Miller connected with Langstraat on three of Langstraat's six kills during the third game giving EMU a comfortable lead. Roanoke knocked away at the lead and then went on a four-point scoring stretch and then took the lead for good.
Bonnie Berry (Dalton, Oh./Central Christian) led EMU with nine kills. Miller added 40 assists, four service aces, two blocks, and 11 digs.
