Andrew Stoddard

Andrew Stoddard was appointed as EMU’s full-time Athletic Communications Specialist on July 5, 2023.

Stoddard arrives at EMU from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., where he worked as a graduate assistant in the athletic communications office. During his year at VCU, Stoddard was the primary communications contact for the cross country, track & field, and men’s soccer programs. Stoddard also assisted with record keeping, updating the athletics website, posting on social media, and recording official statistics in a variety of sports for the Rams. While working as a graduate assistant, Stoddard earned his Master’s of Sport Leadership from VCU in August of 2023.

Prior to his time at VCU, Stoddard spent six years at Hanover High School in Mechanicsville, Va., as a social studies teacher and assistant cross country and track & field coach. Hanover excelled during Stoddard’s coaching tenure, as the Hawks won three VHSL Region 4B championships in girls’ cross country and four in girls’ track & field (two each for indoor and outdoor). Stoddard helped coach athletes who went on to compete at the collegiate level for schools across the country, including Air Force, William & Mary, Clemson, and Virginia Tech.

Stoddard is no stranger to the ODAC, having run cross country all four years at Hampden-Sydney. Stoddard was the top runner for the Tigers in three of those seasons, achieving an 8k personal-best time of 27:23. Stoddard graduated from H-SC in 2014 with B.A. in History and a minor in Rhetoric. He also has a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Richmond.

Stoddard currently resides in Harrisonburg, and his hobbies include running, writing, and reading.
