Royals Get Points At ODAC Championships
The Eastern Mennonite track teams gave a good performance at the ODAC Championships Friday and Saturday in Lynchburg. The men charted a number of season bests and had two athletes place with points. The women had three individuals or relay finishes in the top six.

Royals Gear Up For ODACs
On Saturday the EMU track teams participated in the Johnson C. Smith Invitational hosted by that university in Charlotte, NC. The Royals got a great chance to gauge their talent against a wide range of athletes, and had one athlete break an EMU record.

The Eastern Mennonite University indoor track teams were in Newport News on Saturday, participating in the Vince Brown Invitational hosted by Christopher Newport. The Royals had some solid showings in a meet also full of D-I and D-II athletes.

Morgan Starts With A Splash
In his first collegiate meet, Hilton Morgan decided it would be nice to put his name in the Royals’ history books. The freshman thrower launched a toss Saturday which vaulted him to second place on EMU’s shot put list.

Allen Named ODAC's Top Athlete; Penick Also Wins Gold
The Eastern Mennonite track and field teams displayed some great efforts at the two-day Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships Friday and Saturday in Lynchburg. The men and women each had an athlete grab a gold metal on day one, resulting in an All-ODAC First Team honor, and junior Michael Allen was just as good on Saturday, being named the ODAC's Male Athlete of the Meet.

The Eastern Mennonite track & field teams were back in Lynchburg over the weekend, this time for the Lynchburg College Track Classic. The Royals were competing against more D-III athletes than at last week's meet hosted by Liberty and the men and women responded with some good finishes.

The Eastern Mennonite University track & field teams participated in the Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg over the weekend. With the meet mostly packed full of D-I athletes, the Royals did not see a lot of high finishes, although the men and women held their own with their D-III counterparts.

The Eastern Mennonite track and field teams opened up their outdoor slate over the weekend, participating in the Maroon Invitational in Salem, hosted by Roanoke College. Despite the small numbers on the teams, each the men and women came home with at least one first-place finish.

Allen Repeats Jumping Titles At ODAC Championships
Last year, Michael Allen (Fork Union, Va./Louisa Co.) won both the long jump and triple jump at the ODAC Indoor Championships. Friday, the Eastern Mennonite junior successfully defended both titles, repeating with his golds and All-ODAC First Team honors at the meet held at Liberty University in Lynchburg.

Junior Michael Allen (Fork Union, Va./Louisa Co.) seems to be rounding into shape at just the right time as Eastern Mennonite's trackster won the triple jump at Saturday's DuCharme Invitational hosted by Dickinson College. Allen also holds the top conference finishes in the long and triple jump with the ODAC Championships this weekend in Lynchburg.

Royals Participate In The Liberty Open In Lynchburg
The Eastern Mennonite track athletes were in Lynchburg Saturday for the Liberty Open Invitational. Although the top finishes were dominated by D-I athletes, there were more D-III schools at this meet than last weekend's meet hosted by the University of Maryland, giving the Royals a better chance to gauge their competition.

Royals Open Season At D-I Meet Hosted By Maryland
Saturday was not about in what place the athletes finished; rather it was mainly about getting their feet wet as the Eastern Mennonite track teams had their first indoor meet of the 2011 season at the Terrapin Invitational. The meet, which was hosted by the University of Maryland, was mostly full of D-I participants, leaving the Royals to compete against their own expectations.

SEASON PREVIEW: Another Transition Year For EMU Track
This year will not be a season highlighted by a run to a team championship. The Royals just don't have the numbers for that. Rather, this will be a track season with a handful of exciting individuals to follow as they move up the conference leaderboards or even hope for a repeat trip to the national meet.

Royal Women Picked Seventh In Preseason Track Poll
With the indoor track & field season slated to start for Eastern Mennonite next weekend, the women's team has been picked seventh in the 2011 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track Poll. The Royals are highlighted by seniors Samfee Doe (Monrovia, Md./Baltimore Lutheran), who set a school record in the 400 meters last year, and Brittany Burke (Stanley, Va./Page County), who also placed in the shot put at the 2010 ODAC Championships.

Lewkowicz To Take Over Cross Country And Track & Field
Eastern Mennonite University has announced the hiring of Jason Lewkowicz as its cross country and track & field coach. Lewkowicz will finish out the 2010-11 athletic year at Hannibal-LaGrange University, where he holds the same position, before moving to Harrisonburg this summer to take over the reins of the Royals' program.
