Zook and Sauder Claim Spot On All-ODAC Third Team

The Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer program continues to make significant strides in one of the toughest conferences in Division III soccer. After closing out the season with an overall record of 7-8-2 and advancing to the conference quarterfinals, the Royals landed two players to the all-conference teams, announced today by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. It has been three years since EMU's women have had multiple All-ODAC honorees.

Senior Mikaela Zook (Millersburg, Ind./Northridge) capped a short but impactful career, earning her selection to the All-ODAC Third Team. Transferring in from Hesston College, Zook wasted little time making an impact, as she stepped into the backline of EMU's defense and immediately became a dominating presence. Zook's ability to use her height to control the ball and speed to chase down opponent's passes made her a threat. In 2017, the Royals' defense improved statistically and set marks for goals-against-average and season shutouts.

Freshman Rachel Sauder (Lyndhurst, Va./Stuarts Draft) stepped into a starting role as a freshman and was voted by the league's coaches to the All-ODAC Third Team. She makes her first appearance on the All-ODAC team, ranking in the top ten in the conference with assists. Sauder led the Royals with 14 points and six assists, after tying for second on the team with four goals.

Seven freshmen were named among the top 40 players in the conference.
