Taylor Wenger (New Holland, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) led the way as the Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer team wrapped up their 2011 season with a 4-1 win at Hollins Tuesday afternoon.
Although shots were relatively even in the contest, the Lady Royals held a major edge on the scoreboard, started by Wenger with an unassisted goal just 12:03 in.
Ten minutes later, she assisted junior Amber Shelly (Bluffton, OH/Bluffton) on her first goal of the year to make it 2-0.
The score stayed that way until the 63rd minute, when Wenger scored another unassisted goal, her seventh of the year, to push the lead to 3-0.
Hollins finally got their first score in the 82nd minute, but the Lady Royals answered with a Sarah Carpenter (Denver, PA/Cocalico) goal off a Kori Wenger (New Holland, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) corner kick to produce the final 4-1 decision.
Jenni Beck (Archbold, OH/Archbold) finished with seven saves in goal.
Eastern Mennonite finishes the year 3-15 overall and ninth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference at 3-8. The women just missed the eight-team ODAC Tournament for the first time in the program's 13-year history.
