Sophomore Olyvia Longacre (Telford, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy) shot two of her best collegiate rounds this weekend at the Bridgewater Invitational. Taking 10 strokes off her scores from a tournament the previous weekend, Longacre finished tied for 20th out of 54 women.
The lone golfer for EMU's women's program, Longacre started play on Saturday with an 85, tying what had been her second-best collegiate round. Then on Sunday she was one better, carding an 84 for the best 18 holes of this season.
Longacre earned a two-day total of 169 (+25) on the par 72 pairing of Mountain/Lake at the Lakeview Golf Club in Harrisonburg.
Her best collegiate round was an 83 from late last year. Longacre has shown great improvement in her second year in the program at Eastern Mennonite, scoring an average of 87.0 through four rounds. She averaged 91.5 as a freshman.
Bridgewater's Christina Herbert led from start to finish at the tournament, claiming the medalist honors at 142 (-2). The Eagles also cruised to the team title with a 623 (+47), beating Stevenson by 32 strokes.
EMU has one more tournament scheduled for the fall season with the Generals Invitational next week Monday and Tuesday. Washington and Lee hosts the event at the Lexington (Va.) Golf & Country Club.
