Royals Open ODAC Tournament With 63-55 Win Over Roanoke
The Eastern Mennonite women took over midway through the first half of their ODAC Quarterfinal game Thursday and came away with a 63-55 win over seven-seeded Roanoke. The Royals advance to the Semifinals and will play Saturday against either #3 Guilford or #6 Bridgewater at 3:00pm.

Royals Control Guilford To Lock Up ODAC's Second Seed
Heading into Saturday’s season finale at Guilford College, the Eastern Mennonite women knew they controlled their own destiny for the second seed in next week’s ODAC Tournament. The Royals responded in a big way, controlling the second half in a 68-56 win.

Women Head Into Finale With 88-59 Thumping Of Wasps
It took a few minutes to get going, but by the end it was all EMU Friday night, as the women’s basketball team rolled over Emory & Henry 88-59 on the road. The Royals broke off a 26-26 tie in the first half and closed on a 62-33 surge over the final 27 minutes.

Women Back On The Winning Track
The Royals recovered well from their overtime loss to Virginia Wesleyan, dominating Randolph College Tuesday evening, 64-35. The women controlled the boards and made a living at the free throw line as they led by as many as 31 points to improve to 19-3 overall and 15-3 in the ODAC.

Marlins Slip By Royals In Overtime Battle Of ODAC Leaders
In a clash between two teams tied for first in the ODAC, you would expect a lot: big runs, dramatic comebacks, clutch shots. Saturday’s game between Eastern Mennonite and Virginia Wesleyan had all of those, although the final result left the home fans on the short end, as VWC took an 82-76 win from the Royals in Harrisonburg.

The Eastern Mennonite women entered Saturday’s game with Roanoke with the 11th-best offense in the nation. The Maroons held EMU 30 points below their season average, but the Royals still found a way to get the win, getting a late bucket to steal a 45-44 decision.

From the opening minutes of the game, you wouldn’t have known that visiting Randolph was still looking for its first conference win. Yoders Claims VaSID Rookie of the Year Award
Eastern Mennonite women's basketball player Kala Yoders (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) has added another award as the result of her fine freshman season with the Royals. After helping EMU to a 15-11 season, Yoders was named the state's Rookie of the Year by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID).

Basketball Women Bring In Another Nine New Players
Last year, Coach Kevin Griffin guided an incredibly young team to a 15-11 finish, as he had just two upper classmen on a 12-person roster. The Royals have dug themselves out of a number of double digit deficits this season, but Thursday at the ODAC Quarterfinals they found a hole they couldn't get out of. Two and a half weeks without a game seemed to help the EMU offense. Because of the holiday break the Eastern Mennonite women hadn't played since Dec. 18, and still they shot 56% from the floor in Tuesday's win over Lynchburg. The Royals led most of the game, but had to come from behind with five minutes to play to grab a 72-69 win.

Women Pour In 73 Points In Big Win At Hollins
Saturday at Hollins, the Eastern Mennonite women were looking to solve their offensive woes. After shooting a combined 24% and averaging 41.5 points in losses earlier in the week to Bridgewater and Roanoke, the Royals turned things around in hurry. The women shot a blistering 60% in the first half at Hollins and rolled away with a 73-58 win.

Eastern Mennonite Earns First Win From The Line
The Eastern Mennonite women's basketball team faced a tall task in Saturday's consolation match of the Franklin & Marshall Tournament - the host team. The Royals locked up with the host Diplomats in a game which saw 14 ties. But it was EMU who broke off the final tie and then iced a 65-58 win by netting 9 of 10 free throws in the final 2:05.

Late Rally Comes Up Just Short For Royals
In the women's season-opening loss against Averett, they attempted just 12 free throws. Friday at the Franklin & Marshall Tournament, the women were determined not to let a lack of free throws derail them. The Royals ended up setting a record for free throws made in a game, but couldn't stop Catholic from scoring and suffered an 81-77 loss in a back-and-forth game.

Late Cougar Run Downs EMU Women In Opener, 74-66
Sometimes in a back-and-forth game, the final decision comes down to a short span in the contest. That was the case Tuesday night as the Eastern Mennonite women opened their season at home against Averett. The game saw seven ties and six lead changes, but a six-minute span in the second was all the Cougars needed to sneak a 74-66 win away from EMU in Harrisonburg.
