The Lady Royals saw their promising season come to close a Saturday in the ODAC Tournament, dropping a 2-1 decision to top-seeded Virginia Wesleyan. No. 6 EMU scored once in the top of the seventh, but left the bases loaded to exit the tourney in the final four for the second straight year.

Softball Women Swat Wasps In ODAC Tournament
Eastern Mennonite made quick work of Emory & Henry this morning in the loser's bracket of the ODAC Softball Tournament, clubbing a 10-0 win in five innings. The Lady Royals continue into the final four of the tourney, and will take on No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan today at 5:00pm in Salem, VA.

Maroons Send EMU To Loser's Bracket By 7-5 Score
Roanoke defeated EMU twice during the regular season, and despite a wild game, the Maroons made it one more as they handed the women a 7-5 loss Friday evening. The ODAC Tournament loss drops No. 6 Eastern Mennonite into the loser’s bracket, where they will play No. 8 Emory & Henry Saturday morning at 11:00am in Salem, VA.

Women Open ODAC Tournament With Win Over R-MC
Two days ago, the Lady Royals showed they could hit Randolph-Macon, gaining a sweep to end the regular season. Friday in the ODAC Tournament opener for both teams, EMU only scratched out five hits, but got great pitching and defense to earn a third straight win from the Yellow Jackets, this time by a final of 3-1.

EMU Sweeps Randolph-Macon, Earns Rematch In ODAC Tournament
The hitting was in fine form Tuesday night. Wednesday on Senior Day, the pitching followed suit in a sweep of Randolph-Macon. With the wins, Eastern Mennonite clinched the sixth seed in this weekend’s ODAC Tournament and earned a repeat date with the Yellow Jackets, who finished as the third seed. The teams will play Friday at 2:00pm in Salem. The double elimination tourney culminates in the ODAC Championship on Sunday.

Tuesday’s ODAC doubleheader with conference-leading Virginia Wesleyan provided plenty of fireworks. In the end, Eastern Mennonite found out they could hit a top-pitching team, but ended up dropping both games to their visitors.

Rescheduled Softball Games Moving Off Campus
The rescheduled softball games for Eastern Mennonite University not only have new dates, but now will also have new locations. Due to exam schedules at EMU, both makeup doubleheaders need to be played in the evening, thus forcing them to an off campus field which would have lights.

Today's rains in the Shenandoah Valley have postponed another of EMU's events, the softball doubleheader scheduled at Shenandoah. The games had been moved to Thursday, but are now postponed again as SU could not find a field to host the two teams.

For a few innings, Tuesday’s game with Hood looked like a pitchers’ duel. Then the teams combined to score 13 runs in the sixth as Eastern Mennonite grabbed a 9-7 win. Next a thunderstorm rolled in and game two of the doubleheader was cancelled.

Last week the EMU softball team was impressive at the Beach Blast, albeit a shortened trip. The women’s time at the Roanoke Valley Softball Bash on Saturday was shortened as well, but not because of the weather, as the Lady Royals powered past two opponents, each ending on the five-inning mercy rule.
