The Eastern Mennonite men’s cross country team raced at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, PA, on Friday. Despite not being able to complete a scoring team, each of the four runners crossed with their personal best time in a packed field of 357 athletes.

Nafziger Wins First D-III Cross Country Race
In his first meet at the D-III level, Dan Nafziger (Harrisonburg, VA/Harrisonburg) proved why D-I George Mason wanted him on their team two years ago. The sophomore, who missed last season with an injury, dominated the field at the Hornet Cross Country Challenge, taking first by nearly 50 seconds.

Lewkowicz To Take Over Cross Country And Track & Field
Eastern Mennonite University has announced the hiring of Jason Lewkowicz as its cross country and track & field coach. Lewkowicz will finish out the 2010-11 athletic year at Hannibal-LaGrange University, where he holds the same position, before moving to Harrisonburg this summer to take over the reins of the Royals' program.

Bikko Featured On NCAA Fall Highlight Show, Airs Dec. 18
CBS Sports liked the story of Eastern Mennonite University senior Richy Bikko so much that they picked it up for their national television special, the NCAA Fall Highlight Show. The show will air across the country on CBS this Saturday, Dec. 18, at 1:00pm ET. In the Harrisonburg area, the show can be seen on channel 9, WUSA9 out of Washington, D.C., before the start of a college basketball game.

Eastern Mennonite cross country runner Richy Bikko hung with the second pack at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships, and it was good enough to get him on the First Team. Bikko crossed the finish line in 26:39 Saturday, taking fifth place overall and earning a trip to the South/Southeast Regional meet Nov. 13 in Memphis, Tn.

Last Saturday, Richy Bikko won his second meet of the season, dominating the Maroon Invitational. As a result, the Eastern Mennonite University cross country runner claimed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Week award, winning for the second time this fall.

Senior Richy Bikko continued to show his prominence amongst the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, winning Saturday's Roanoke Invitational. Four conference schools were represented and Bikko easily took first place at the meet by 1:39 over Roanoke's Andrew Bernstein.

The Dickinson Long/Short Invitational is always a good chance for cross country runners to get a gauge of how they fare in a talented field and Saturday was no different. The Eastern Mennonite runners did well at the meet in Carlisle, Pa., highlighted by Richy Bikko taking 23rd in the 4000m run.

In a field mixed with D-I and D-III runners, Eastern Mennonite's Richy Bikko made a solid showing. The senior ran his personal record and came in 16th overall, finishing behind only one other D-III runner at Friday's Lou Onesty Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia.

Bikko Wins First 2010 Meet By 23 Seconds
Richy Bikko opened the 2010 cross country season right where he left off in 2009 - by beating everyone in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference not named Ricky Flynn. Bikko took second at the 2009 ODAC Championships to Lynchburg's Flynn, and took 108th at the national meet as Flynn took gold. Flynn has since graduated, and Bikko showed he might be the cream of the ODAC crop in 2010 by taking first place at Wednesday's Randolph College Invitational.

Small Cross Country Teams Left With Room To Improve
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference Cross Country Preseason Polls were released today and the Eastern Mennonite University teams were both left with room to move up by the season's end. The men's team was voted seventh out of ten ODAC schools while the Lady Royals were voted seventh out of nine.
