Six Eastern Mennonite University men's volleyball players earned a spot on this year's Continental Volleyball Conference All-Academic Team.
All six of EMU's honorees were repeat selections, including three seniors: Tim Callahan (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), Colton Frey (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and Dan Lutz (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim). Juniors R.J. Ocampo (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) and Christian Taylor (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) and Austin Tomlin (Greenville, Va./Riverheads) were also honored. Lutz and Taylor were previously named to the All-CVC Second Team.
A total of 65 student-athletes made the CVC All-Academic Team this year, which marks the second highest total in league history. In order for a player to earn All-Academic Team honors he must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average.
The Royals finished the 2018 season with a record of 21-13, coming one win shy of tying the program record for wins. The men qualified for the ultra-competitive CVC Tournament for the second year in a row, earning an impressive road upset at Juniata in the first round before falling to eventual champion Kean University in the semifinals.
