An early deficit stung EMU's soccer men in a 4-0 road loss at Lynchburg College Saturday night. The Royals are now 6-3 overall after dropping their first two ODAC contests of the season.

Lynchburg (8-1-1/2-0 ODAC) scored on their first two shots on goal, first with Collin Kashmer in the 15th minute followed by Jon Mackey in the 18th. The Hornets scored again in the 38th when Michael Thompson headed in a corner kick.

LC added one more in the 62nd minute on a goal from Fredy Flores.

The Royals had most of their chances late, including the only shot on goal which came from Joshua Chiquillo (Woodbridge, Va./Gar-Field).

EMU ended up being out-shot, 20-10. Chiquillo and Juan Luna (Mount Jackson, Va./Stonewall Jackson) each had two attempts.

Cody Martin (Martinsville, Va./Carlisle) played the first half and made two saves. Matthew Overacker (Mount Crawford, Va./Turner Ashby) made four stops in the second half.

The Royals need to snap out of their two-game losing skid as they prepare for two key contests this week. Eastern Mennonite hosts Emory & Henry on Tuesday with a 7:00pm start. The men then play at Guilford next Saturday. Both games are likely to have major ramifications for the ODAC standings.
