Despite scoring first, the soccer men's six-game winning streak came to an abrupt end Saturday afternoon in a 4-2 loss at Randolph College in Lynchburg. It was the ODAC opener for both teams.

Eastern Mennonite slides to 6-2 on the season, while Randolph moves up to 6-2. The Royals have a week to lick their wounds before heading back to Lynchburg next Saturday for a night game at Lynchburg College.

Playing an early afternoon affair during Randolph's Homecoming, Juan Luna (Mount Jackson, Va./Stonewall Jackson) put EMU in front when he converted a penalty kick 13:22 into play. The senior notched his fourth goal of the season by going off the left post and in.

The score stayed 1-0 until a flurry late in the first half. The WildCats earned an equalizer on a goal from Gabe Krueger in the 36th minute.

The Royals nearly took the lead right back just 20 seconds later, however, starting when Joshua Chiquillo (Woodbridge, Va./Gar-Field) had a shot punched out by Randolph's keeper. After back-to-back corners, Emmanuel Boamah (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) knocked a header at the net which was knocked out by a defensive player for a team save. Chiquillo fired another saved shot and EMU added their third corner in a two-minute span, but the WildCat's defense held and kept the game tied at 1-1 into halftime.

The home team started to take over momentum in the second half and finally grabbed their first lead on a Frankie DiOrio goal in the 62nd minute. A sudden red card on Boamah in the 76th minute put EMU a man down and all but ended their chances.

DiOrio scored again in the 83rd and Adam Watson hit the net in the 85th. Chiquillo set up for senior Zach Sauder (Lyndhurst, Va./Stuarts Draft) for a beautiful weakside sliding footer with just over three minutes to play, providing the final 4-2 score.

Randolph out-shot the Royals 15-4 in the second half to finish with a 20-10 command. Shots on goal were 10-6. Cody Martin (Martinsville, Va./Carlisle) made six saves in the loss. Chiquillo was the only EMU player to put two shots on goal.
